Accel-Rx Expands Team to Enhance Programs and Partnerships

Accel-Rx Health Sciences Accelerator is pleased to announce the appointment of Elayne Wandler as Director of Partnerships and Programs. In her role, Ms. Wandler will lead Accel-Rx’s program creation and implementation to support the organization’s national mandate to strengthen and maximize health sciences company growth in Canada.

Ms. Wandler is a senior executive and entrepreneur with over 20 years of business experience in the health sciences sector, spanning business development, investor relations, strategic planning, marketing and communications with notable companies such as QLT Inc. and Abbott Laboratories. In addition to her corporate experience, she also brings a strong entrepreneurial track record to the role having run her own consultancy business and launched her own start up providing her with a solid understanding of the challenges faced by start-up companies and entrepreneurs.

“We are very fortunate to have recruited Elayne to our team,” said Natalie Dakers, President and CEO of Accel-Rx. “She brings a wealth of experience from the pharma and biotech sectors, and with her diverse background I have every confidence she will add value to our current partnerships, build new ones and ensure there is the necessary support for our portfolio companies.”

Accel-Rx is already investing much needed capital in Canada’s health sciences sector and now, with the addition of new programs that address the need for talent and resources, its portfolio companies will be able to take root, scale-up and become the next generation of Canadian-based anchor companies.

“Accel-Rx is focused on providing capital and talent—both of which are needed for success,” added Ms. Dakers. “Canada has the science and technology to build great start-ups, but more capital and talent is needed to strengthen those companies. Elayne will focus much of her time on the talent side.”

Ms. Wandler is a member and active mentor with the Forum for Women Entrepreneurs. She is the recipient of the Canadian Investor Relations Institute Award and has received multiple awards for corporate collateral. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from the University of Alberta and an MBA from the University of British Columbia.
