September 28, 2015 – Blake Cassels & Graydon
Thanks to our clients and peers, Blakes has been honoured with three 2015 LMG Life Sciences Awards. This is the second year in a row that we have been recognized for our expertise and contributions in the area of life sciences.
Two of the awards were presented to the following individuals:
•Joseph Garcia – Canadian Financial & Transactional Attorney of the Year
•Gordon McKee – Canadian Product Liability Attorney of the Year
Joseph is consistently recognized as a leading corporate lawyer by clients and peers in international rating surveys. He also recently won a Gold Leaf Award from BIOTECanada for his Visionary Leadership in the Canadian biotech industry and was named Corporate Partner/Advisor of the Year in the 17th Annual LifeSciences BC Awards.
Gordon is receiving the same LMG award for the second consecutive year. He is also a three-time winner of Benchmark Canada’s Product Liability Litigator of the Year award. Gordon was the lead trial counsel in the first medical products class action/common issues trial that was tried to verdict in Canada, successfully defending one of the world’s leading manufacturers of life-saving cardiac devices.
As a firm, Blakes was named Canadian Financial & Transactional Firm of the Year. Blakes houses one of Canada’s leading and internationally renowned life sciences practices. A distinguishing feature of our practice is our expertise in the vast array of regulatory regimes at the federal and provincial levels. From the protection of innovations to representing clients in disputes, we have deep industry knowledge and expertise to better serve our clients at every step of their business needs.
Award recipients are determined on the basis of research conducted over the course of 2015, which primarily consists of feedback from clients or fellow legal practitioners. Results are also based on firm submissions that include representative cases and detail which attorneys have a life sciences focus and have made meaningful contributions to the industry and/or the practice of law.
