- Companies selected for the Companies to Watch – Recognition Honour Roll.
- The consideration period for all awards (i.e., the period during which activities will be assessed) is April 1, 2025 to March 31, 2026, except for the Dr. Don Rix Lifetime Achievement Award, which is based on the individual’s full career.

- Previous winners may be eligible for an award in a different category once a minimum of two years has passed from the date of their last win to the beginning of the next consideration period. (Example: if they win in 2025, they become eligible again for a different category in the 2028 awards, for the consideration period starting April 1, 2027.)
- Previous Companies to Watch – Recognition Honour Roll recipients are eligible for an award in any other category in the next awards cycle.
- LSBC does not make posthumous awards.
Award Nomination Guidelines & Process
- Nominators should not expect, or ask, LSBC staff to assist in preparing the content of a nomination, beyond providing general advice on eligibility, process, and deadlines.
- LSBC will not offer opinions on a nomination’s likelihood of success.
- The identities of nominees will not be made public unless they receive an award or recognition.
- All nominations are first received by LSBC, which will:
- Confirm the eligibility of the nominee, and
- Review the nomination form for completeness and clarity, before forwarding it to the adjudication committee.
- The adjudication committee is composed of distinguished leaders from the life sciences sector.
- Nominations (except for Companies to Watch) may be rolled over for up to two award cycles, provided that the nominator resubmits or confirms the nomination each year.
- Companies to Watch nominations will not be rolled over and must be submitted anew each year.
- Upon submission, all nomination materials become the property of Life Sciences BC and will be kept confidential.
Award Adjudication Governance
- The adjudication committee may, at its discretion, recommend that a nominee be considered for an award category other than the one(s) for which they were originally nominated, if they better fit that alternative category.
- If nominated, serving members of an adjudication committee will be recused from all discussions and decisions related to the adjudication of the respective award.
- All adjudication decisions are final and may not be appealed.
- The Genome British Columbia Award for Scientific Excellence is adjudicated independently by Genome BC.
