BC Life Sciences Labour Market Intelligence Study
LSBC has launched a province-wide labour market intelligence study designed to provide a better understanding of the jobs and skills employers are looking for in BC’s dynamic life sciences sector.
The study will provide an up-to-date workforce profile, including five-year labour demand and supply forecasts, a skills training assessment, gender-based analysis plus (GBA+) data, and recommendations for sector-led strategies.
These findings will benefit sector organizations and those that work with them, including post-secondary institutions and government, seeking to address labour challenges and make investment decisions.
Stakeholder engagement is a critical success factor and will include an employer-focused survey, focus groups, interviews, and collaboration with BioTalent Canada.
Labour Market Survey – Your Company Input is Vital!
As part of the study, we have launched an employer-focused survey open from November 7th to December 5th. Your company input is critical, and we are asking all BC life science companies with employees to complete the survey.
Your organization’s survey respondent will require sector knowledge in the following areas:
- Talent attraction and retention
- Hiring forecasts
- Diversity, equity, and inclusion
- Skills training needs and opportunities
The BC Life Sciences Labour Market Intelligence Study receives input and oversight from a strong governance committee comprising industry, academic, and government members.
This project is funded through the Canada-British Columbia Labour Market Development Agreement as part of the Sector Labour Market Partnerships program with BC’s Ministry of Advanced Education and Skills Training. Life Sciences BC has hired KPMG LLP to assist with this work. The report will be published in the fall of 2023.
The Sector Labour Market Partnerships program helps industry and employers understand and respond to labour market changes, and provides funding to organizations within an economic sector, region, or population, to develop projects that help respond to workforce challenges.
