Preparing for Growth: IP Considerations and Methods of Going Public

February 13 @ 8:00 am - 10:00 am

Part I – IP considerations during growth

Intellectual property (IP) assets play a pivotal role in company growth, especially with mergers & acquisitions and initial public offerings (IPOs). The strategic management of IP assets can significantly influence the outcome and valuation of the deal. It can also have a lasting effect on the future innovation trajectory of the combined company. In this session, Lisa Thorne will provide a high level understanding of the complex IP issues companies may face and will also share how to mitigate risks through a systematic approach and due diligence.

Part II – Taking your life sciences company public

As part of a growth strategy, many companies – including life sciences, biotech and pharmaceutical – often seek to raise capital through IPOs. In addition to raising capital, an IPO can give a life sciences company a higher profile and potential access to new and widespread investors. Join us as Tara Amiri (Gowling WLG) shares her insights on methods for taking a life sciences company public.
