THE OPPORTUNITY
Life Sciences BC (LSBC) is a not-for-profit member association supporting British Columbia's life sciences sector through leadership, networking, investment facilitation, events, and promotion of world-class science and industry. We are seeking a mission-driven professional with genuine passion for the life sciences sector to manage our membership and sponsorship portfolio, lead acquisition and retention strategies, and help build our organisation.
THE ROLE
Reporting to the Director, Partnerships & Events, you will manage relationships with members and sponsors, secure new partnerships, lead renewals, and manage a small team (1 FTE Coordinator and 1 co-op student). This is a hybrid role (3 days office, 2 days home) with occasional early morning and evening event commitments.
Revenue Development (50% of workload)
- Identify and recruit potential members and sponsors; secure general and event sponsorships
- Build and maintain relationships with senior stakeholders and corporate decision makers
- Manage membership and sponsorship renewals, upgrades, and retention strategies
- Lead development of membership and sponsorship policies, procedures, and fee structures
- Monitor industry trends and actively seek opportunities that encourage collaborations and partnerships
Member Relations & Operations (40%)
- Manage Coordinator and co-op student; coordinate with Marketing, Events, and Finance teams
- Ensure all sponsorship deliverables are fulfilled; develop proposals and assets for members and sponsors
- Manage Salesforce CRM for sponsors, partners, and members; maintain Membership Directory
- Manage sponsorship cycles (renewals, agreements, compliance, invoicing follow-up, stewardship)
Team Tasks (10%)
- Supports LSBC team at events with logistics as requested by Manager, Events
- Manages the Memberships and Sponsorships Specialist (Co-op Student)
- Attendance as required at early morning and after-work events
- Other duties as assigned
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
- 5 to 7 years' experience in nonprofit corporate sponsorships and memberships with proven track record securing and renewing corporate funding
- Management experience: previous responsibility for managing 1 to 2 direct reports
- Demonstrated passion for life sciences through a science degree OR professional experience in a life sciences company
- Member-based organisation experience with strong understanding of member engagement, retention, and value delivery
- Small nonprofit experience: comfortable working in lean teams (7 to 15 people) where flexibility and a 'jack of all trades' mentality is essential
- Strong Salesforce CRM proficiency: ability to use MS Office, Outlook, Excel, and QuickBooks effectively
- Proven ability to build relationships with senior stakeholders and corporate decision makers
- Strong written and verbal communication, project management, and problem-solving skills
