Responsibilities
- Perform all processes in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures and Good Laboratory Practice rules
- Actively promote safety and awareness in the lab; always act in accordance with safety practice rules
- Communicate any occurrences to team leader and/or supervisor immediately
- Work cooperatively with trainer and other technicians
- Keep the lab area clean
Tasks
- Molecular cloning such as PCR, ligation, digestion, preparation for sequencing, and transformation
- Transfection of BAC DNA into mammalian cells for virus production
- Performing DNA Preps such as mini, midi, hispeed midi, maxipreps
- Maintaining and updating catalogue lists for samples and primers
- Recording accurate and timely records using labArchives
- Bacterial culturing with proper sterile technique
- Autoclaving equipment needed for experiments
- Performing Maintenance of lab equipment
- DNA extraction from bacteria and virus
- Preparing buffers
Skills & Requirements
- S. in Life Sciences such as Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or related discipline
- Ability to perform techniques such as PCR, molecular cloning, DNA preps, transfections, mammalian and bacteria cell culture
- Ability to work in a demanding, fast paced, team-oriented environment with high degree of professionalism
- Strong organizational skills, ability to prioritize multiple demands and work efficiently under pressure
- Ability to solve research problems with high independence
- Strong written and oral communication skills
