Libang Surgical Technologies Inc.
Create a surgical robot for breast cancer
Help improve breast cancer treatment! We are looking for outstanding engineers and developers, especially women, to play a foundational role in creating a new surgical robot to transform the treatment of breast cancer. Use your professional skills to help improve the standard of care for the many millions of women facing this awful disease around the world.
Our goal is to significantly improve the patient experience of necessary procedures such as biopsies and lesion removal. Robotic techniques can enable precise, repeatable procedures that are minimally invasive, minimally painful, and always as effective as the best human clinicians working manually.
You will be joining an early-stage company founded in Vancouver, well-financed, and led by an experienced team. We want to have fun doing great work that will make a real difference.
Medical Device Software Lead
As part of the senior design team, your views will be heard; you will crucially influence the core R&D and product design and development. This is a role with broad scope and responsibility, with corresponding impact. You will be a humble team player, a good communicator, and a valued key member of the development team. You will have the opportunity to mentor less experienced team members, and advocate with the broader engineering team for quality software integration and design approaches – all while tackling interesting problems.
You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and verifying key system elements including medical image processing, communications, user guidance, and control software subsystems for safe robot interactions. Working closely with the rest of the design team you will deliver a well-integrated product with robust performance in a safety-critical medical device.
We are looking for experience and training that make it clear you are highly motivated to make a difference in healthcare, including at least 5 – 8 years’ experience in the design of medical devices or very similar systems. It is likely you will have a bachelor’s or perhaps a graduate degree in a related field. You have experience with some of the following: medical image processing, controls systems, hospital IT, computer vision, machine learning, robotics.
• Have experience in medical device development approaches (i.e. you are familiar with ISO 13485, IEC 62304, ISO 14971).
• Have shipped multiple medical device products with FDA approval to market.
• Have functioned as a technical lead.
• Are a systems-level thinker.
• Are legally entitled to work in Canada.
Compensation will be consistent with our expectation that we need the best to succeed, and for key early hires will include stock options. A relocation package is available if you will be moving to Vancouver from elsewhere.
