SignalChem Lifesciences Corporation (SLC), a clinical-stage biotechnology company based in Richmond, British Columbia, is seeking a highly motivated Research Scientist to join its Drug Discovery team. The ideal candidate will possess in-depth knowledge of cell signaling and extensive hands-on experience, preferably within an industry setting.

SLC’s drug discovery platform is built on strong protein engineering expertise and supported by robust capabilities in assay development, high-throughput screening, medicinal chemistry, structure-based drug design, and bioinformatics. These integrated strengths drive the identification of novel regulators of drug resistance and the development of small-molecule therapies targeting these pathways. The company’s expanding pipeline spans diverse therapeutic areas.
This is a full-time lab-based position. The salary range for this role is $70,000 to $90,000 CAD annually. The Research Scientist reports to the Senior Director, Biology.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Design and execute laboratory experiments to support target identification and validation, compound screening, and lead identification and characterization in both in vitro and in vivo settings.
- Develop and optimize cell-based assays to support drug discovery programs.
- Analyze experimental data, prepare study reports, and present findings in internal and external settings.
- Interview, train, mentor, and supervise junior staff and co-op students.
- Coordinate and manage outsourced preclinical studies with contract research organizations (CROs).
- Ensure compliance with all applicable health, safety, and laboratory regulations.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, or a related field; prior industry experience is preferred.
- Strong hands-on experience in flow cytometry is required. Experience in protein and antibody biochemistry, and phage or yeast surface display is considered an asset.
- Demonstrated interest in drug discovery and development within a biotechnology setting.
- Proficiency in mammalian cell culture and in the development and validation of assays relevant to drug discovery.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Strong collaborative skills with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
