Dr. Elyse Hope is the Manager for LSBC’s Growth Catalyst Program, a new initiative funded by Pacific Economic Development Canada (PacifiCan). She supports a cohort of 25 life sciences-focused companies in BC as they pursue their next stage of growth. At the Alliance, she led strategic landscape analysis projects related to science philanthropy and research trends and served as a liaison and advocate for researchers and institution leaders. She has previously worked in the research funding space at the intersection of academia, industry, and government, supporting the development of new genomics research programs and partnerships and overseeing a $16M life sciences project portfolio at Genome BC.
Elyse is broadly committed to programs that support the science ecosystem, and has served as an expert panelist, committee chair, and advisor with the National Science Foundation, the Genetics Society of America, and the Society for Science. She devotes volunteer time to education programs for the upcoming generation of scientists, including early career mentorship and judging high school science fairs.
She holds a BS in Biology from Stanford University and a PhD in Genome Sciences from the University of Washington. She completed her postdoctoral fellowship at the BC Cancer Agency.
