RYAN BUTT

DIRECTOR, PARTNERSHIPS AND EVENTS

Ryan Butt is the Director of Partnerships and Events for Life Sciences BC, where he plays a pivotal role in cultivating relationships across the provincial, country and global life sciences sectors. As a highly accomplished event planner and revenue development strategist, Ryan is responsible for overseeing 30+ events hosted by Life Sciences BC annually, ranging from community-based networking and educational events, to LSBC’s Annual Awards and Invest in BC events. He also develops and implements the revenue generating strategies including sponsorship, membership, partnerships for LSBC. As a senior member of the Leadership Team, Ryan actively works to foster collaboration throughout the province’s life sciences ecosystem, while also focusing on outreach to new organizations and companies seeking to get involved.

Before joining Life Sciences BC in 2017, Ryan held several corporate management roles with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, where he focused on prospecting and stewarding corporations to support VSO concerts, educational initiatives and outreach programs. Prior to that, he worked with SOS Children’s Village BC and the Canadian Cancer Society, where he was highly involved in numerous aspects of event production, revenue development and corporate relations. Early in his career, Ryan also worked for Vancouver Kingsway MP Sophia Leung, specializing in employment and immigration case work, and organizing community events.

Ryan holds a Bachelor of Public Administration and Bachelor of Arts with a major in Political Science from Carleton University. In his spare time, he enjoys travelling the world. He currently resides in Port Moody, with his wife Julia.
