Remote Communities Drone Transport Initiative - in partnership with UBC, Lifelabs, BC First Nations Health Authority (FNHA), BC First Nations Health Authority, Rural Coordination Centre of BC, Rural Education Action Plan, and Drone Delivery Canada. Through innovative drone technology, UBC's Remote Communities Drone Transport Initiative will test the feasibility of enhancing access to physically necessary health care services (lab, pharmacy, supplies) for First Nations communities disproportionately affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. The pilot project will serve as a model for long-term improvements in health equity for underserved Canadians and is also an important piece of a coordinated effort to enhance equity in access to health care to improve the health outcomes of Indigenous and non-Indigenous people living in remote communities.
