Established to mark the Coronation of His Majesty King Charles III on May 6, 2023, the Coronation Medal is a prestigious national honour awarded to 30,000 individuals who have made a significant impact in Canada or internationally. The medal, designed by the Canadian Heraldic Authority and produced by the Royal Canadian Mint, is the first Canadian honour to feature the Canadian Royal Crown approved by The King.
Karimah Es Sabar, CEO of Quark Ventures, was recognized for her leadership and contributions to life sciences, innovation, and economic development in Canada, particularly in British Columbia. A passionate advocate, she has dedicated her career to fostering growth and collaboration in the biotech sector. We are thankful for her contributions as GlycoNet’s Board Chair.
Dr. Jason Acker, co-founder of PanTHERA CryoSolutions and professor at the University of Alberta, received the medal for his contributions to science, technology, and innovation, including his work with the University of Alberta, Canadian Blood Services, and PanTHERA CryoSolutions Inc.
