New Medtech Canada Board Chair

Message from John Simmons, Chair of the Board of Medtech Canada:
Greetings Medtech Canada members,
I am writing to inform you that I have stepped down in the role of Board Chair for our association. While I was very much looking forward to continuing in the role, AceAge – the company I have been leading – has been acquired.
As a result of the acquisition, I have transitioned out of the business as it’s been folded into the operations of the company’s new partner. I am planning on spending the next several months deciding what’s next for myself and my family, and I am even contemplating retirement. As a result of these circumstances, and based on the by-laws of the association, I have stepped down from the Board and from my role as Chair.
With my departure as Board Chair, I am very pleased to share that the Board’s Vice-Chair – Dehlia Blanchard of GE Healthcare – will become Chair of the Board of Medtech Canada. Here’s some background on Dehlia:
Dehlia Blanchard is the General Manager of Service for GE Healthcare Canada. She is a senior business leader with a proven track record in multiple disciplines from service delivery, customer service, operations, strategic development, and people management.
Throughout her extensive three-decade career with GE, Dehlia has driven service operational excellence and delivery throughout Canada. Including but not limited to developing, implementing and executing programs and solutions for customers and market dynamics. She is passionately committed to leading the Service business, growth, development of her teams, environmental health & safety and ultimately supporting Canadian Healthcare customers.
Dehlia joined GE Healthcare in 1992 as the first female Service Representative at GE Healthcare Canada, working in the X-Ray modality. From there she took on a multitude of different roles over the years growing in increased business acumen, operational responsibility and people leadership. In 2015 she took on the country Service leadership role at GE Healthcare for Canada. To complement her strong business acumen, she has strong philanthropic beliefs and works with the GE Volunteer Executive Council to help drive social responsibility and community engagement across the country.
Dehlia joined the Medtech Canada Board in May 2020 and prior to assuming the roles of Chair and Vice-Chair, she held the role of Secretary-Treasurer on the Board.
Please join us in welcoming Dehlia as Medtech Canada’s Board Chair. Our membership and our Board of Directors will be well served with Dehlia as the Chair of our association, as we continue our advocacy to improve the environment for the medtech industry in Canada and enhance patient care.
Medtech Canada would like to thank John for the invaluable contributions he has made to our association as Chair, Board Member and active member of our association over many years. We wish him the very best and highly appreciate all the significant efforts and investment of time and leadership he has made to Medtech Canada and to the medtech industry over the past many years.
