GlycoNet Board Member receives Professional Achievement Award

We are proud to share that GlycoNet Board Member Dr. Nils Petersen recently received a Professional Achievement Award from the Western University Alumni Association in recognition of his lifelong dedication to scientific excellence and mentorship.
His research has focused on understanding intermolecular interactions in biological membranes and the processing of molecules and nanoparticles as they enter the cell. Petersen’s work has contributed significantly to scientific concepts in cellular imaging. He is also a Fellow of the Chemical Institute of Canada.
In addition, Petersen has played a vital part in shaping scientific infrastructure in Canada, through his role as the founder and director general of the National Institute of Nanotechnology.
Petersen serves as Professor Emeritus at Western University and the University of Alberta. He continues to be a key contributor in the scientific community as he serves on scientific committees and the boards of several not-for-profit organizations, including GlycoNet.
We are grateful for Petersen’s contributions to GlycoNet and his support for advancing glycomics.
