Mintz Celebrates One Year Anniversary in Toronto
Mintz celebrated the one-year anniversary of its Toronto office with an event held at Aera Restaurant including over 300 clients, partners, and local officials.
The office has grown to almost 35 attorneys since it opened last year with founding partners Michael Akkawi, Eric Foster, Mitch Frazer, Lee Johnson and International Life Sciences Chair Cheryl Reicin.
Located at 200 Bay Street in the heart of the Downtown Core, Mintz’s Toronto office was recently renovated to enhance office features and account for continued growth. The office offers a full suite of legal services, with deep experience in Canada-US cross-border issues, Life Sciences, Intellectual Property, Private Equity, Capital Markets, Pensions and Benefits, and Employment.
“As one of the very few large, full-service US-based firms with a Canadian office, Mintz is uniquely positioned to help the increasing number of local companies and investors looking to do business in the US,” said Mitch Frazer, Office Managing Partner. “We are fortunate to have built such a highly experienced and accomplished team to serve our clients and we look forward to continuing future growth.”
Notable milestones include:
- Serving more than 250 life science clients from Canada and around the world, including corporate, licensing, and intellectual property work.
- Receiving the LMG “Impact Deal of the Year” award for its role advising on a joint venture between ITM Isotope Technologies Munich SE (ITM) and Canadian Nuclear Laboratories (CNL). Toronto Associate Adam Falconi was also recognized as a “Canada Rising Star.”
- Advising client Future Electronics on its $3.8 billion acquisition by WT Microelectronics.
- Six Toronto attorneys ranked by Chambers Canada 2024: Michael Akkawi, Eric Foster, Mitch Frazer, Bernard Kwasniewski, Cheryl Reicin, and Adam Falconi.
- Attracting top talent including Partners Anthony De Fazekas, Merv Allen, Alex North, Katy Pitch, Matthew Atkey, Brad Tartick, Special Counsel Bernard Kwasniewski and Of Counsel Matthew Imrie and Stephen Lam.
The office has also invested significantly in the Toronto economy – from holding events in different parts of the city to various charitable contributions, such as Office Managing Partner Mitch Frazer’s $3 million gift to Ontario Tech University.
